Ribstone Creek Brewery is proudly brewed in Lloydminster, Alberta — although we had a strong start in the (even smaller) town of Edgerton, Alberta!
Some History:
Edgerton, Alberta is a small village with a population of just around 400 (depending on the day) located in east central Alberta and home to Ribstone Creek Brewery.
Why Edgerton?
The story begins during Edgerton sports days, an annual summer event in our community. Don, Chris, Cal and Al recognized the growing demand for high-quality, Alberta-made craft beer and saw an opportunity to create a unique, thriving business in the area they grew up in.
After some in-depth market research and extensive discussion with community leaders, the decision was made to turn the Ribstone Creek Brewery dream into reality. The founders sought community investment and purchased a historical building on main street Edgerton — a former tractor dealership that had served area farmers for generations.
After renovating the building and fine-tuning the recipe for their flagship Ribstone Creek Lager, Ribstone Creek Brewery began full-scale beer production in Edgerton in the fall of 2012. Our beer line-up continues to evolve with our mainstays, seasonals, various beer series and collaborations.
Ribstone Creek Brewery is now known across the Prairies for producing consistent, award-winning beer and proving great things are brewing outside of the big cities. Even CBC’s hit show, Still Standing, dropped by and paid us a visit: click here to watch the episode
4th Meridian Brewing Company acquired Ribstone Creek Brewery in December 2022.
Due to economic and logistic challenges, Ribstone Creek closed operations in their hometown of Edgerton, Alberta, in December 2022.
Ribstone operations have moved to Lloydminster, Alberta, to continue producing award-winning brews. Beer connoisseurs and enthusiasts have become accustomed to the taste and quality of the Ribstone label. Rest assured, 4th Meridian has stayed true to the Ribstone recipes when brewing.
