Ribstone Creek Brewery proudly originated in Edgerton, Alberta, Canada.
Edgerton, Alberta is a small village with a population of just around 400 (depending on the day) located in east central Alberta and original home of Ribstone Creek Brewery.
Why Edgerton?
The story begins during Edgerton sports days, an annual summer event in our community. Don, Chris, Cal and Al recognized the growing demand for high-quality, Alberta-made craft beer and saw an opportunity to create a unique, thriving business in the area they grew up in.
After some in-depth market research and extensive discussion with community leaders, the decision was made to turn the Ribstone Creek Brewery dream into reality. The founders sought community investment and purchased a historical building on main street Edgerton — a former tractor dealership that had served area farmers for generations.
After renovating the building and fine-tuning the recipe for their flagship Ribstone Creek Lager, Ribstone Creek Brewery began full-scale beer production in Edgerton in the fall of 2012. Ribstone Creek Brewery flourished for over 10 years in Edgerton, creating several mainstays, seasonals, collaborations and of course, Edgerton exclusives!
Due to economic hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Ribstone Creek Brewery closed its doors in Edgerton and production was moved to 4th Meridian Brewing Company in Lloydminster, Alberta. 4th Meridian continues to brew many of the mainstays and seasonals originally created by Ribstone Creek.
Ribstone Creek Brewery remains known across the Prairies for its premium quality, award-winning beer. This story is far from over!
